Recently, the “Together in Henan - Dialogue with Nanyang—International Student Study Tour” organized by the Henan Provincial Alliance for International Education was successfully held in Nanyang City. Representing Zhengzhou Electric Power College(ZEPC), CHINYAMA MILDREAT from Zimbabwe and RAMATILLOEV SHEROZ from Tajikistan participated in this immersive exploration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
The event brought together 205 Chinese and international participants from 29 universities across Henan Province, including 88 international students from 39 countries. Over the three-day program, participants visited key cultural and medical sites such as the TCM Science and Technology Museum at Nanyang Medical College, the Temple of the Medical Sage, and Zhang Zhongjing Hospital. Students experienced traditional treatments including tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage), fire cupping, and acupuncture, and also learned the wellness routine known as Baduanjin (Eight Brocades Qigong).
“This experience gave me a deep understanding of TCM’s philosophy of preventive care. I hope to bring this knowledge back to my country,” said MILDREAT after the visit. SHEROZ also shared: “The philosophical wisdom behind TCM is fascinating—this was truly an unforgettable cultural journey.”
The International Exchange and Cooperation Department of ZEPC places great importance on international students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture. The two students selected for this program performed excellently and demonstrated strong intercultural communication skills. Participation in such events enables international students to gain deeper insights into Chinese heritage and become bridges of cultural exchange between China and the world.
This study tour is one of the key initiatives under the “Study in Henan” brand campaign. Moving forward, ZEPC will continue to embrace openness in education and actively engage in international exchanges. Through cultural immersion and professional practice activities, we aim to help international students experience a more authentic, multidimensional, and inclusive China, contributing to mutual learning between civilizations and deeper people-to-people ties.
